The Fresca Way
The foundation of The Fresca Way is the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
Aligning to these goals, we have implemented ISO 14001 into our daily operations and are proud to say all wholly owned, retail facing businesses are ISO 14001 certified.
We have robust management systems in place to monitor, measure and focus improvements in our environmental performance and impact, and essentially drive continuous improvement.
Our 5 strategic pillars are Environment, Customers, Communities, People and Responsible Sourcing pillars – within each, we have primary focus areas with KPIs.

Environment
Our primary areas of focus are:
- Climate – Energy reduction and carbon intensity.
- Water Stewardship – Water risk assessment and stewardship.
- Waste Management – Driving out waste, increasing recycling.
- Food Waste – Continuing to reduce food waste and maximise redistribution.
- Packaging – Improving packaging sustainability.
- Biodiversity – Defining biodiversity framework.
Customers
Our primary focus areas are:
- Meeting customer’s commitment on net zero Science Based Targets.
- Being active industry members of key organisations, eg FNET, MSIN, ALP and Diversity in Grocery.
- Collaborating with industry-wide stakeholders to improve the fresh produce industry and the lives of all people working within it.
Communities
Our primary focus areas are:
- Supporting our communities.
- Nurturing locally established charity partners.
- Continuing to support national, industry related charitable causes, like GroceryAid.
- Ongoing support to FareShare, donating and providing surplus nutritious fresh produce.
- Supporting associated global organisations like Fair Trade.
People
Our Primary focus areas are:

Responsible Sourcing
Our Primary focus areas are:
- Human Rights Due Diligence – Working with our partners to eliminate modern slavery and human rights abuses in our supply chain through human rights due diligence.
- Sustainable Farming Frameworks – Support sustainable farming frameworks in conjunction with our customers.
- Sustainable Risk Management – Using our own and established standards, continue monitoring, measuring and addressing risk, and work with our food partners to address food scarcity risks.
