In June 2025, the Fresh Produce Journal (FPJ) hosted their annual Festival of Fresh, event, bringing together growers, suppliers, retailers, service providers and other professionals involved in fruit and vegetable supply.
It’s a celebration of the fresh produce industry, blending business insights, topical discussions and debates, innovation and technology showcases and awards to celebrate and support the sector’s community and innovation.
The event also includes the Festival of Fresh Awards, to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements within the UK fruit and vegetable sector and to honour individuals and businesses for their contributions to the sector.
This year, Thanet Earth collected the trophy for Retail Supplier of the Year category. The FPJ declared
“This trophy comes on the back of a raft of recent investment that has included the £20mn construction of a seventh glasshouse in Kent, a move into leafy salad production in Chichester, and the opening of a new education centre at Hadlow College.”
“The business has also increased turnover to almost £150mn in the past year and remains profitable at a testing time for the UK greenhouse sector.”
Accepted by Head of Procurement & Supply Chain, Martin Rattigan, who said; “This award recognises the continued commitment from our shareholders, our incredible people, including our onsite growers, our fantastic strategic partners and of course our customers.”
“We are hugely honoured to receive this award and grateful for all the hard work of our colleagues from across the business who have helped us to get to where we are today.”
